Looking for something new to read? Check out these great picks out this week:
Writer: Matthew Rosenberg; Artist: Tyler Boss
Synopsis: A fun(ish) crime caper about children! Eleven-year-old Paige and her weirdo friends have a problem: a gang of ex-cons need her dad's help on a heist... the problem is those ex-cons are morons. If Paige wants to keep her dad out of trouble, she's going to have to pull off the heist herself. Like Wes Anderson remaking Reservoir Dogs, 4KWIAB is a very dark & moderately humorous story about friendship, growing up, D & D, puking, skinheads, grand larceny, and family.
Why We Are Excited: Rosenberg was the writer and Boss was the colorist on the 5-issue miniseries We Can Never Go Home, which was a favorite pick for many of our employees. So another miniseries by these guys feels like a no-brainer to add to our Must Read list this week. We have so much faith in the book that we even got our name on it with a exclusive variant cover (Check it out here!)
Writers: Jim Campbell, Amalia Levari; Artists: Jim Campbell, Cara McGee; Cover Artist: Jim Campbell
Synopsis: Over the Garden Wall is now an ongoing series! In this kickoff issue, Wirt and Greg might have escaped the Beast's grasp and made it out of the Unknown, but some things can't be forgotten. Greg returns to Dreamland at night, where the silly creatures who live there help him on his adventures. Then, dive back into the early days in the Unknown where young Anna, the daughter of the Woodsman, must learn to survive in the woods on her own.
Why We Are Excited: The Cartoon Network miniseries really captured an audience with it's creativity and staying right on that line of all ages horror and magic storytelling. The limited series from Boom! last year also captured the same feel of the show. Now we get a monthly series and we couldn't be to go back over the wall.
Synopsis: Image+ is an all-new monthly magazine featuring Image's upcoming releases, as well as bonus creator-owned comics content. Each issue will be distributed with Diamond's monthly Previews Catalog. It will also feature an original, four-page The Walking Dead story concerning Negan's origins, by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, for the first year of releases, a total of 48 pages of new TWD! Plus, you'll get exclusive interviews, spotlight features, bonus never-before-seen preview pages and editorials from industry and retailer voices.
Why We Are Excited: It's not often we recommend a preview-style magazine as our pick, but the fact that we get part of a new The Walking Dead story in every issue has us sold! Maybe we still miss Wizard magazine just a bit too and hoping this might fill a small void.
