Looking for something new to try out? Check out these New Release recommendation. And they are themed this week! Check out all these great All Ages Book out this week:
Writer: Roger Langridge; Artist: Andy Hirsch
Synopsis: It's a lovely day in 1930s London, right up until a giant stone lion comes to life and starts wrecking the city! It seems like the perfect case for the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. Of course, Sherlock Holmes doesn't actually exist; he is a fictional character created by housekeeper Mrs. Hudson, who has been the real detective all along, writing Holmes' adventures under the pen name of John Watson and running around the city in disguise. With an overwhelmed case load she'll need the help of a precocious bunch of young detectives-in-training to solve the mystery of the living statues. Baker Street will never be the same!
Why We Are Excited: What if the world's greatest detective (no, not Batman) isn't who we are lead to believe he is? This looks to be a fun, all-ages twist on the literary legend from Roger Langridge (Abigail and the Snowman) and Andy Hirsh (Adventure Time).
Writer: Art Baltazar, Franco; Artist: Art Baltazar
Synopsis: Fresh from the creative minds at Aw Yeah Comics-a brand-new series starring the valiant Action Cat and his trusty sidekick, Adventure Bug! As Evil Cat lurks behind the scenes, our heroes endeavor to bring comics to the good people of Beautiful Downtown Skokie. You better believe high jinks will ensue!
Why We Are Excited: Co-Kings of the All Ages books, Art and Franco already have a great reputation for telling great stories like Tiny Titans, Superman Family Adventures and Itty Bitty Hellboy. Their creator-owned character Action Cat was created as a mascot for their Aw Yeah Comics store, and soon took on a life of his own. Now he has his own limited series from Dark Horse and he's ready for adventure!
Writer: Christopher Hastings; Artist: Ian McGinty
Synopsis: Fourth anniversary issue! This special oversized one-shot issue introduces new series artist Ian McGinty (Welcome to Showside, Bravest Warriors)! Finn takes a tour of his past lives when he astral projects through an old photo album. Features special incentive covers by the first Adventure Time art team, Shelli Paroline & Braden Lamb, and Jeffrey Brown (Darth Vader and Son)!
Why We Are Excited: Much like the Adventure Time TV show paved the way for new and awesome shows on Cartoon Network, this book has done almost the same for adapting those CN shows to the comic book form. After it succeeded, it was a no-brainer to start seeing shows like Steven Universe, Clarence and Amazing World of Gumball on the comic racks as well. But you can't go wrong with the original. And hitting the 50-issue milestone is a huge feat in this day and age of comics. High-five!
