Top 3 for #NCBD 2/24/16

Looking for something new to read? Here's our Top 3 picks to get you into something new this week:

X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever #1 (of 5) (Marvel) $3.99
Writer: Max Bemis; Artist: Michael Walsh

Synopsis: Bailey Hoskins has just discovered he's a mutant. For someone who's never been special, never stood out, discovering he's "gifted" is truly a gift-entry into the halls of Xavier's School for Gifted Children and into the ranks of the world-famous X-Men! Unfortunately...Bailey might just be the worst X-Man ever. Max Bemis, frontman of the band Say Anything, kicks off his first Marvel miniseries by teaming with stellar artist Michael Walsh (Secret Avengers, X-Files: Season 10) to bring us the story of a misfit among misfits.

Why We Are Excited: Max Bemis has been producing some truly unique comics lately with his run on Crossed: Badlands, plus his creator-owned titles Evil Empire and Polarity at Boom! Studios. So we are excited to see what he does with Marvel's Merry Mutants. Plus, we're all curious as to HOW much worse can he be to be THE worst. There have been a plethora of bad X-Men over the years. So many in fact, that Wizard magazine used to have a monthly column dedicated to showcasing just how bad there were. So the bar has already been set pretty low on that scale. Regardless, our expectations for this book are still pretty high.

Imposter #1 (21 Pulp) $3.99
Writer: James Patrick; Artist: Martin Szymanski; Cover Artist: Victor Santos

Synopsis: One man is every hero who's ever existed. He's the vigilante Centipede, the space traveler Captain Apex, the sorcerer Dr. Oculus, and the adventurer Jungle Jack. This is the world's most dangerous secret, it's about to be revealed, and everything will change.

Why We Are Excited: We dig it when the old superhero tropes get an new creative twist added to them. It's not an easy task as there have been so many books that have come out. But the idea that one guy is every superhero sounds unique enough to have at peaked our interests. Add in the finding out the how this happened and why the secret is threatened to be exposed and it sounds like a solid first issue to check out.

The Zone Continuum TPB (Dark Horse) $15.99
Writer/Artist: Bruce Zick

Synopsis: High atop the New York City skyline, an invisible war has raged for generations. As two nigh-immortal champions brawl for dominance of the ever-shrinking extradimensional Zone 27, the populace below remain oblivious of the cataclysm that could cause their annihilation from the rooftops above!

Why We Are Excited: Originally printed by Caliber Comics starting in 1992, then rebooted as a web comic in 2006, this will be the first printing of any Zone Continuum material in almost 20 years. Heavy sci-fi mixes with a touch of Will Eisner's The Spirit mixed in, Zone is a unique world that even creator Bruce Zick (Atomic Legion, Mandala) has said he's barely scratched to surface to, even after 20+ years of thinking about it! Catch the first 4 chapter story arc, plus a Zone glossary and sketchbook in this trade paperback, with hopefully more to come soon!
